If you bought a Powerball ticket at the Portage Strack & Van Til for Monday's drawing, check it. A ticket sold at the store, 6046 Central Ave., won $50,000. It was one of three $50,000 winners in Indiana that night, and the other two were sold in Bargersville and Lebanon.

  • Double Play numbers: 20-23-24-33-61, Powerball 1
  • Powerball numbers Monday: 7-23-29-64-66, Powerball 23
  • Claims: call 1-800-955-6886 for instructions

It wasn't the jackpot, which The Times of Northwest Indiana put at $804 million for Monday. Still, not a bad Election Day. If the ticket is yours, keep it somewhere secure. Wednesday's drawing is next, and Indiana has the nation's most Powerball jackpot wins, 40.

$835 millionestimated Powerball jackpot for Wed., Nov. 4

It would be the 10th-largest jackpot in the game's history.

The Wrap

Region football has some wonderfully odd history. On Nov. 3, 1981, Griffith won its first sectional title by beating Hammond High 27-18 on a Tuesday night, back when the local portion of the IHSAA playoffs was known as the "cluster system." It also moved Griffith to 11-0 for the first time in school history. Tuesday-night playoff football, anyone? Quite a throwback.
